Once America’s oldest continually operating military post, today the Presidio is a national park site and a National Historic Landmark District. The Presidio spans 1,491 acres at the tip of the San Francisco peninsula. Its forest is seen for miles as a green oasis framing the Golden Gate Bridge. The park is home to 300 native plant species and more than 200 bird species. Twenty-four miles of trails and eight scenic overlooks offer different ways to explore and enjoy the Presidio’s open shore, wild coastal bluffs, wooded hilltops, and beautiful gardens. Restaurants, cultural destinations, and recreational sites beckon.
