Stay informed on history, the latest updates, news, and local San Francisco culture from the Inn at the Presidio.
With so many wonderful museums and cultural points of interest, it can be hard to decide exactly what to explore and experience while visiting our city. Above is a video highlighting a few points of interest that we recommend visiting while staying at the Inn at the Presidio along with a brief history and description of each.
Andy Goldsworthy is one of the most well-respected artists in the world. His site-specific work has been featured in locations as close as Stanford University and as far away as the Australian Outback and the North Pole. He first visited the Presidio in 2006 and was immediately taken by the historic architecture, wild landscape and its relationship to the city of San Francisco. Luckily for us, Goldsworthy has found the Presidio to be an inspiring location and with the support of the FOR-SITE Foundation we are fortunate enough to house 4 of his installations. Also luckily for us, all of his installations are located within walking distance from the Inn.
Here at the Inn, we regularly get asked about the trails in the Presidio that we might recommend as the best hikes in the area. This is always such a tricky question to answer because there are so many great trails and they all offer something unique to the hiker. Based on our own research however, along with the feedback of our guests we have compiled a list of our favorites and rated them from easy to more difficult.
